I'm so sick of hearing about "learning styles". The research on the idea is clear - they don't exist. Students may feel like they're "visual learners" or "auditory learners" but the studies have been done - presenting information to them according to their preferred "style" does NOT improve their scores.
Our job is to decide what our goal is for the students and then present the material to them in the manner that is going to best help them achieve that goal - be it text, lecture, video or hands-on activities.
That's what I think. Anyone have a contrary opinion on learning styles? I'm open to it.
